Summer Rugby – The Basics

• Two-Hand touch rugby for girls and boys ages 6 -18 (as of 6/14/11). Three divisions: U-10 (6 – 9 year olds), U-15 (10 – 14 year olds) and U-19 (15 - 18 year olds).
• 2011 Season:  June 14th through August 6th.
• Registration fees: $98 for 1 child and $78 for each additional child. Fee includes games jersey and youth rugby ball.
• Practice: Tues & Thurs from 6:30 – 8:00pm.
• Matches: Saturday morning: U10's kickoff at 9am, U15's kickoff at 9:45am, U19's kickoff at 10:30am.
• Practice and Match Location:  Raintree Soccer Field (Corner of Raintree and Route 51 benind Arboretum Shopping Center)

Age & Insurance Requirements

Proof of age is required; please provide a photocopy of your child's ID, passport, or birth certificate at time of registration. Returning players’ information is already on file. Personal medical insurance information is required on the registration form.

Team Size

Teams consist of approximately 7 - 10 players per team. Seven players per team compete at any one time in a match. All players on a team will have the opportunity to play in all matches. Teams are co-ed.

Matches

Each match consists of four 10-minute quarters. Rugby tradition calls for an informal post-match party so all players are invited to share snacks and drinks with their teammates and opposing team members after each match.

Equipment & Uniform Requirements

Parents should provide any type of athletic shorts (preferably black or navy in color), practice shirts (t-shirt will do), and soccer cleats or a good pair of running shoes suitable for athletic activity. A mouthpiece is strongly recommended (required for those who wear braces) even though there is no tackling.
